Given as wedding present to my g-g-grandmother in the early 1900's? Fairly ornate design, stands 16" tall and engraved with g-g-grandmother's intials and handle has a hollowed silver ball on top. Took it in for cleaning a few years back and they removed the wire rim on the bottom that had the maker info/date on it!!!!! Any information would be helpful!!

no info at all on it?
Did they say why they removed the rim? And, I hope they didn't charge you for the cleaning.

May I ask where you brought the piece to be repaired?
