A gorgeous piece of art glass by Kralik. The photos don't adequately convey the intricate swirls in the glass at the dimples. Its a complicated texture that approaches that done by Loetz Phen Genre 7499. You have to look close, but the decor is made up of an oil spot surface ala Loetz Papillon, with combed blue veining. Also look to the tri-fold, double crimped rim work! Amazing craftsmanship.
So many of the Kralik pieces are often sold as Loetz by less than scrupulous dealers. This is one of those typically described as Loetz Phenomen Genre on eBay. Its a newly identified decor (credit to the Glasshounds) that was listed in Passau as "Unknown Maker"...now it can be found on the incredible site created and managed by Craig Orkney, under Kralik Blue/Gold. A large and well know art glass dealer who specialized in Tiffany and dabbled in Loetz once told me "People want Loetz or Tiffany, so I tell them its Loetz. Whats the harm if it makes them happy and me rich?"
