WWII veteran and father has passed away. This is one of his collectibles that he actually used for gatherings. It was manufactured by S.S. Mftg in 1944. It also has U.S. inscribed on it. Just going through the stuff we found this. We were wondering if you knew the history on this item?

Has anyone seen this item before? Nice aluminum condition.
Looks like part of a mess kit. My dad used to use pots like this for camping. Sorry I can't be of more help.
