I found this item while helping friends clean out a house prior to an estate auction and the friends we were helping told me to go ahead and take it if I wanted it. I have since done a little research and this is what I've come up with: Iowa State Fairopoloy board game is a spinoff the popular Monopoly game, produced by an advertising firm in Newton, IA in 2004 to celebrate the 150 Year Anniversary of The Iowa State Fair. 150 of these board games were auctioned off, with the highest bid coming in at $1250.00. The game is a collector's item and is in brand-new unopened, un-played condition. All parts are in original plasic. The box itself is in perfect condition, with no dents or smashed corners. The original plastic shrink-wrap is still intact, though has started to come apart on one seam.

HISTORY OF THE IOWA STATE FAIR: The first Iowa State Fair was held in Fairfield in October of 1854. The Iowa State Agricultural Society created the event to inspire and educate Iowans through a spirit of friendly competition. Approximately 8,000 folks paid $0.25 to attend this experimental exposition on a six-acre plot of ground.
One-hundred fifty years later, the Iowa State Fair has evolved into the nation's premier ag-extravaganza and is ranked by the Wall Street Journal as one of the top three Fairs in North America. The eleven-day event is held on 400 acres, attracts over one million visitors each year and has an economic impact exceeding $65 million. Fondly called the "grand-daddy" of 'em all," the Iowa State Fair's atmosp has been captured in a book, three movies, a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, and has been recognized in countless travel guides as a "must experience" event.
This limited edition 150th Anniversary Iowa State Fairopoly game will provide many hours of enjoyment through experiencing the Fair year-round.
Develop your own Fair empire by adding booths and warehouses to your concession properties. Learn interesting facts about the Fair, its concessions, buildings and grounds. Risk your fortune with "See a Show" and "Enter a Contest" cards directing you to purchase Grandstand tickets or collect prize money. Each game contains an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The venerable home of the Iowa State Fair, the Iowa State Fairgrounds is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Threatened with rapid deterioration of its buildings and beautiful park-like grounds, the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation was created in 1993 with the mission of raising funds for renovation and preservation of the Fairgrounds. To date, the Foundation has raised over $54 million for improvements. Proceeds from Iowa State Fairopoly will support the Blue Ribbon Foundation's on-going efforts to preserve the Iowa State Fair for generations to come.
