Very Nice painted bakelite Philco, I am a big collector of radios and these are the ones I like the most!!! Going to a HUGE swap meet in Kutztown PA this weekend, hope I can score some nice finds and show them here.
Rock
Thanks Rock! I had at one point, nearly 50 radios I think but now I have whittled them down to around 8 that I kept. Sold the rest on ebay. Not all worked but the ones I kept do. Have BIG fun at the swap meet! They are always a blast to go to.
Hi, I've completely renovated an old house, and the kitchen is STRICTLY 1940's. The only thing it is missing is a beautiful 1940's radio. Would you be interested in selling this radio?
No, I have a fondness for this beauty.
I fixed one just like this...yours looks great
Did you? I have done a little work on some of my radios over the years too. I wish I owned a decent compressor so I could do the great paint jobs I see on yours and others.
Oh and Thanks REED!
I learned to spray with a can...overlapping each spray as I passed by the surface. I then wet sanded each layer using 800, 1000, 1200 grit sand paper. Polishing compound was used for that final shine.
Thanks for the compliment.
Great idea REED! I have all that stuff so I will be prepared the next time.
Thank you miKKo and Van!
