      This is china rather than porcelain. This colonial couple decal along with gold edge was quite popular from the 1930s to 1950s. I've seen original promotional material that offered these patterns for premiums and gave them away at the movie theatre on "dish night"

      Sorry I can't help you with the red M, but check out my gold-trimmed "colonial couple" plate I posted 3 mo. 23 days ago. My research might help you and in the meantime I'll let you know if I come across any red Ms!
