This was given to me by my mother-in-law:) One of those family gifts that we need to "keep for the kids". It personally scares me. I've been told it's mink, although I don't know how to tell for sure. I believe it was my husband's grandmother's. How can I identify its species and maker?

It looks like a mink to me. If it has no tags or labels on it, it will be hard to find out who made it. It looks like its in nice condition, a lovely piece to pass down the family line.
