My very first piece here - found it in an antique shop probably 25 years ago. Has a patent number on it but its so small I can't read it. It is missing one baguette at the base of the piece and some of the stones are dark but I just love it. The rhinestone part which covers the black plastic cylinder is on a spring motion, it lifts up and the black piece can come out, I don't know why. One of my favorites though :)

I would love to help with the date if you could read the pat number or at least the first few and tell me how many numbers there are.
Thank you, l.a.lady - I am looking closely at it under magnification and can now make out the patent - 1852188 - I have a feeling it might be for the clasping mechanism as that is where the number is located, but I appreciate any info. that you are able to provide!
