I think this is a Mexican coin. I lived in Texas from 1982 until 1986 and a that's when I got it. This is a funny story, I think anyway. I moved back to my home state and a few years later I met my Husband. The funny thing is that he had the same coin! LOL They both say "1981" on them and on the dated side there is a "20" and a funny looking character and also says "CULTURA MAYA". The other side of the coins say "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Anyone know about these coins?

I don't really care if it is worth anything or not. It has sentimental value to me. I lost my Husband to cancer in 2006 so the fact that we both got a kick out of each of us having one when we first met, makes them both special to me. I would like to know however who the character is and what the pic on the back means and what they are in Mexico.
