I do not know what this chair is used for, is there anyone that can tell me or tell me where I can find out?

Quite possibly an odd suggestion, but it could be a very old dental chair. Googled it and noted that in the images that popped up a couple of them did resemble this chair, though they were metal. Probably an incorrect guess, but just tossing the suggestion out there.

Dentist is a good guess ;) Eye doctor?

Any tags or I.D. marks on the bottom?

Pop_abides: the only mark is a stap in a rain onder the chair (276). Could not find any plates or any other marks. At first I was thinking Dentist, then Iwas thinking a chair for photo taking.

My Uncle had one almost like this, his dad was an Opthamologist, so I would say it might be an Eye Exam chair used in an Eye Doctor's office! Just a guess

pops- i doubt a chair for photo taking would have a head rest ;)

I do believe some early photographers did use a head restraint device to keep the head steady for a focused image.

This type chair was used for: barbering, eye exams, dentistry, as well as photography---all needed a very still head of the subject & as was wooden, was not only lighter, for transport & moving it but also cheaper to purchase.

I'd say just eye exams or photography... babers have got specially designed chairs for ages and so do dentists... plus these need the body to be inclined, not sitting straight...

it is in fact a chair for eye exams - they never ever used these for barbering or dentistry
