Alfredo
(521 items)

In 1978-79, I attended a show called "Vienna Moderne" at the Cooper-Hewitt in NYC,, and bought the catalog. I was captivated by four Hungarian iridescent figurines and determined to get them--the four above--acquiring a small collection as well. The picture in the catalog follows in "Zlonay figurines II". Years later I was fortunate to attend the Zslonay comprehensive exhibition at the Bard College Gallery, where I acquired the definitive book on this pottery which, along with Amphora, I consider the epitome of European Art Nouveau ceramics (add to that the Dutch porcelain whose name I can never remember).

Coincidentally, the two "Loetz" examples in the Cooper-Hewitt catalog were Kralik and Rindskopf. . . .

Maybe you are thinking of Gouda ceramics?
  2. Alfredo Alfredo, 3 years ago
I like Gouda, but I am referring to Dutch eggshell porcelain, super delicate.

Rozenburg, den Haag (in the Hague).

    Amazing porcelain!

Rozenburg is really hot right now. Rago had quite a few pieces in their most recent auction and all went for way above estimate.

maybe that's the reason I don't have any! Beside, coffee sets are obsolete.

    Alfredo,
I'm with you on love for Zsolnay and Amphora. I collect both. You might like the Amphora Facebook page. It's loaded with photos and information. You don't need a Facebook acccount to access it. Just go to http://www.facebook.com/amphora.pottery. Also, there is a dramatic video of Amphora's monsters and maidens vases on YouTube. Just search for "Amphora Pottery."
