My father grew up in Kansas City, which, frankly is a depressed sports city, especially when it comes to baseball, the sport my dad played. That comes with one exception: George Brett. Unquestionably the greatest athlete in Kansas City Sports history, Brett is a colt hero in the middle of the country.
Today my dad remains a a Royals fan despite living in New York, and I root for the Royals too, since that rarely gets in the way of my Yankee fandom, because the Royals have not made the playoffs in my lifetime. (They last made the playoffs in 1985 when the won their only World Series).
I have a TON of other Brett memorabilia, including all of his baseball cards, another autographed photo and an autographed baseball.
