I have solved the mystery, it is an Ansonia Crystal Regulator.

I don't know if you're still looking for information but your clock is an Ansonia crystal regulator called the "Ambassador", circa 1914. As you've said it is a Crystal Regulator with a top and base made from Green Onyx. Yours is deeply veined which makes for a nice contrast of colors. I think that Ansonia made some of the most beautiful crystal regulators of all the American manufacturers. They had a whole series of Green Onyx clocks. The Ambassador was one of the more basic designs. Most recently it was appraised at $550 in mint original condition. Most of the examples I've seen sell on Ebay have sold for an average of $300-$350 although there was one that sold for $790 in October of 2010. It's a lovely clock and compared to clocks made of only brass and glass, the Onyx seems to give these Crystal Regulators a nicer, deeper, less "tinny" sound when they strike. I also have one and I love it. Enjoy yours!
