    Hi Sean,

You do come up with some very upscale, elegant timepieces! This is a nice piece with a beautiful clock. No bout a doubt it, you have a taste for the luxury items!

I'm hitting dead-ends as well. I haven't found much on Dunhill yet. They definitely do not cater to the masses with "mass produced" products!:) Pretty exclusive...even one of your favorite clock manufacturers, Jaeger-LeCoultre, has made products for the Dunhill name.

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Library only has one vertical file folder on Dunhill and there has been no Dunhill "chatter" on the member boards. That's not a good sign for identifying what you have picked.

Hopefully another collector "specializes" in these types of timepieces. I understand that Dunhill has partnered with James Bond motion pictures ever since "Dr. No". and that they've either made or commissioned timepieces since 1903. All pretty cool stuff to know but not very helpful here.

You've tried their facebook page and recalling Jaeger-LeCoultre's response to your inquiry, I won't suggest that you contact them.

Just a side note: This seems to be one of their timepieces to have: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klRpt9pZGJ8

    Pretty cool, eh?

One recently sold on eBay for about $700. Check out Item number: 180818777567

You might want to set up an automated eBay search for Dunhill products. Maybe the bot will dig something up for you.

I've added the vertical file to my 'Look at' list the next time I'm at the library with some time to kill. I'll definitely let you know if I find anything useful. That's about the best I can do right now.

It's definitely of value and worthy of a luxury item collection! If you find something, please post it.

    Best regards,

    Bruce

    Bruce99 whos "Q"?
  7. kerry10456 kerry10456, 2 months, 21 days ago
Hey Sean, if you are looking to buy a new wristwatch as you said in AR8Jasons post, you stated Carter or Rolex. Might I suggest Omega, I've got more respect for them over either of the other two.
  8. Bruce99 Bruce99, 2 months, 21 days ago
"Q" is the fictional character in James Bond films who comes up with all the cool spy gadgets that save Bond's life. I suppose a Dunhill Time-Bomb would be too obvious... :)
  9. BELLIN68 BELLIN68, 2 months, 21 days ago
REALLY , thats funny that youve said that because for a while they were selling omegas in appleton where i live and now i was out 6 months looking at them and now nobody sells them here anymore, i do like omegas as well and i do have hard covered omega catalog as well :) and thanks for the love kerry10456.
  10. Bruce99 Bruce99, 2 months, 21 days ago
Omega did a lot of branding in Bond films too!
  11. BELLIN68 BELLIN68, 2 months, 21 days ago

    Hello again Sean,

I have also looked through the Emes keyword route.

As you probably already know Emes made some minature alarm clocks, mostly leather cased travel from what I've been able to find...$10-$20 on eBay but your clock has a much more classic look to it. I found photos of your set out there too so I know you've been searching.

How large is the set? Was gold, or gold plate used?

I found more to go on, which was very little, and had more fun searching on Dunhill! Sean Connery's James Bond (Still the best) "Do you expect me to talk?" Goldfinger, "No Mr. Bond. I expect you to die." :)
  17. BELLIN68 BELLIN68, 2 months, 20 days ago
Thankyou Bruce99 for the information, and Sean Connery is still the best,I'll measurement, and thanks for sharing:)

THE PLATFORM IS 9.5 INCHES LONG AND THE PLATFORM IS 3 INCHES WIDE, THE CLOCK IS 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER , THE CLOCK IS 1 INCHES THICK, THE CLOCK IS ALMOST 4 INCHES TALL, THE PEN OR NOTE HOLDER IS ALMOST 4 INCHES TALL , THE PEN OR NOTE HOLDER IS ALMOST 5.5 INCHES LONG, FOR THE OPENING OF NOTE OR PEN HOLDER IS ALMOST 5.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER , sorry for the caps, i hope this helps .
  19. BELLIN68 BELLIN68, 2 months, 20 days ago
its brass gilt for the metal.
  20. Bruce99 Bruce99, 2 months, 20 days ago
Thanks for the info Sean. You say the opening of the note or pen holder is almost 5.5" in diameter. I'm kind of lost on that. What shape is the opening?

If you get a chance, could you add one more photo a view from the top? It's too big for a standard business card. Current standard British Business Cards anyway which are 3.346" × 2.165" but I suppose one could store them vertically. I think you're right. With the semi-circular "cut out", it looks designed to allow someone to easily pull out notes or cards of some type.

I'll store those dimensions away. I don't know what is in the vertical file at the library but hopefully they'll have something else to go on. I'm sure Dunhill has produced a wide variety of products. Emes expertise in miniature alarm clocks was just what their designers were looking for here.

    Best regards,

    Bruce

    im adding one now
  24. Bruce99 Bruce99, 2 months, 20 days ago
Okay, got it. I suppose pens, cards, or what-have-you. It's almost like a little desk wallet isn't it. Thanks Sean. I'll let you know if I find anything at the Library. It'll probably will be about a month before I'm over that way again.
    Regards

    COOL AND THANKYOU BRUCE99:)
  26. Bruce99 Bruce99, 2 months, 20 days ago
You're welcome Sean. It's probably going to be another dead-end but you never know unless you look. It's a cool piece regardless. I think you're right though, the container looks like it is more for cards or memo sheets of some type. Happy hunting!
  27. BELLIN68 BELLIN68, 2 months, 20 days ago
thankyou Bruce99 for all of wonderful and fine efforts in this and thankyou for kindness and very nice comments :)

    Hi Sean,

I finally got over to the NAWCC Library in Columbia PA today and looked at the Dunhill Vertical File that I mentioned to you a while back. As I suspected, it wasn't helpful. They had some really cool advertisement clippings. A Dunhill Lighter with embedded clock/watch for example. It was appraised at $5,000 - $6,000! They didn't have anything under "Emes" in their catalog so I hit a dead-end there too.

I think what you have is part of a Dunhill Desk Set. Sorry I couldn't be of any real assistance in running down some details on it. In any case, it's a nice stand-alone piece with a very classy look to it.

    Best regards,

    Bruce
