My first Jolles bag was this huge (11"x10") embellished clutch. The beautiful floral fabric is trapunto stitch and oversewn with velvet leaves, fabric flowers dotted with sead beads. The spring green velvet edge shows some where but that was part of its alure. It was owned by an elderly fashionista and I assured her it was going to an appreciative new home. Now I have several Jolles novelty bags as well as a couple of the original petit point evening bags.
Jolles originally caught notice for the petit point evening and day bags offered in the 30s through 50s. The company owner then employed her daughter's whimsical tote designs in the mid50s to update the appeal of the Jolles line. Ida Jolles was honored by her native country for employing so many home workers who provided the petit point tapestries for the handbags. She ultimately came to the US.

When bought, the bag had several cloth covered buttons and a pair of fuschia gloves inside that match the darkest pink on the bag. Sigh. You just can't find that at Macy's. DD@Phila
