This bowl is so colorful and vibrant. The animal (rabbit on center inside) and floral carvings are a feast for the eyes. I found it in a closet of an old farmhouse of my grandparents in Pennsylvania. I love it and have not ever seen anything quite like it. At first I thought it was a Pennsylvania Dutch item, but I've been finding things from all over the world stuffed into closets and attics and basements, so that was just an assumption on my part. My Great Grandparents traveled a great amount thru Europe, Russia, South America, Asia, Canada, Egypt... from the turn of the century until the 1930's. Now I don't know what to think about it or where it was originally made. It is very light and not perfectly round so that is why I beleive it is made from a gourd. I don't know if it is anything of value or if it is junk, but I certainly do enjoy looking at it. If anybody has any comments on its history I would be most grateful.
