I'm just fascinated by this plastic bottle! I'm not exactly sure why but I just love it! It's a hard plastic and has a slight green tint to it. It's just so different than any plastic Coke bottle I've ever seen. Does anyone out there know anything about it? I'm most interested in finding out what year it came out. I also included a photo of the 8 pack carton it came in.
Thanks
James

it isn't plastic, it's glass, and it is a no deposit no return bottle from the 1970's, worth about 50 cents.
Actually it is plastic... It came in an 8 bottle carton that has, "new! plastic bottles" printed on it. But thanks anyways.
Then it's in the wrong carton, because those are definatly plastic, they never made a hardplastic bottle like that, besides, it has a metal cap...
And that,Cocacolakid97 is exactly why this plastic bottle is so intriguing to me! It is without a doubt plastic and yes it does have a metal cap... It looks just like a 6 1/2 oz glass coke bottle but it's not glass I tell you! It's very light weight. I know it's from the 70's but I'm not sure if it's 1970 or more like the mid 70's and I'm not sure how to tell. That's what I'm hoping someone can help me with. You obviously can't help me but I thank you for trying.
I added a photo of the carton this bottle came in. Maybe this can help determine what year it came out. Thanks.
maybe it's the first kind of plastic bottle, i don't know, but the carton design looks like it is from the 1970's, i'll have to do research
could it have been one of those regional tests to see if it was market worthy?
I also found this for your viewing pleasure http://www.sodamuseum.com/Coke/plastic.html
ahhh nice. Looks like a match. Thanks tommy! So much for drinking out of it... :)
Well, after some research I found out what year this came out. I found it in the coca cola archives that you can visit online. You can take a virtual tour of the archives. I saw it on the shelf in the second isle with a bunch of other bottles. It came out in 1969. I don't think it was ever sold in stores, I believe it was given away. The first plastic bottles that were sold to the public didn't come out till 1975, the easy-goer 32 oz bottle. According to that bottles write up they experimented with plastic bottles for 10 years prior to that coming out so I guess my bottle is one of the experimental bottles from six years earlier. Cool stuff, I'll definitely hold onto it. I included a new pic of my bottle in the archives with it's carton. I love that carton... :)
Incredible detective work! Well done.
Thanks, I feel like Matlock!
Can we get a biopsy of the bottle?
i found a glass bottle like this but it say Bicknell IND on the bottom can anyone tell me what its worth
I have an 8 pk of these bottles with the carton got at a garage sale.. How much are they worth?
I've seen asking prices for the bottles online from $20-$40 each and as far as the carton goes I have no idea, I've never seen that for sale. It seems like the carton would be harder to come by than the bottles. In the end I guess they're only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. At this point I actually have exactly what you have, I found some on ebay for a lot less than $20-$40 each and was able to fill the carton. I just love them, they're so unique. Just out of curiosity how much did you get it for at the garage sale?
