I found this shoved into the back of a closet. I have looked all over for what is supposed to go on top, but no luck. I may have this displayed upside down. The way it is photographed is how I keep it, for it makes a wonderful dish that my cat will drink/eat from, very fancy for a stray feline.

Thank You for your comments... I am going to keep that silly creature. I do beleive he has rather good taste in glassware, quite highbrow for a common street cat I must say!

agree it could be a punch bowl base. Those are called dolphins and modeled after the dolphin fish (not the bottle-nose dolphin) in Victorian glass (EAPG) and continued in Elegant Glass of the depression era. Do a search for -EAPG Dolphin- and you'll see numerous examples.

TallCakes- You are kind to share your knowledge and I am very thankful! This was shoved on the top shelf of a closet that my Grandfather kept his shot guns. I searched all over for the missing part, but I wasn't really sure what I was even looking for...didn't locate anything I thought matched, but I found all sorts of other neat things. Thank-You.

Happy to share what little I can. I found one other example like yours on the net that was attributed as "probably" Boston & Sandwich; haven't been able to find any reference confirmations. Maybe someone will come along with more info.
