Could not find any markings on this. I love this unique carving, but I don't know a thing about it. I was told that it is made from Ox Bone. The work that went into this is unbelievable. About what time frame were items like this made. It's such a conversation piece so I want to educate myself on it. Any input is appreciated. Is this considered rare??

Hi, this and the clam shell are molded celluloid figures (a thermoplastic of nitrocellulose and camphor, with dyes). It was originally (from about 1860) widely used, but now rarely because of its flammability. There is a world of these, some are little people doing all sort of things. If you Google ‘Japanese celluloid figures’ you will get several hits including ebay and should be able to get a rough idea of the values.
