What is this contraption? Has days of the week and numbers on it. Looks similar to the chart thing these use at the OB when you're pregnant to see how far along you are. Thank you for your help. Came across it at a local thrift store, $1 I couldn't pass up!

It looks like a brass "perpetual calendar." Does it rotate?

You seem to be missing the casing and a wheel with the days of the month.
The wheel would have been the diameter of the plain band between the weekdays and years, covering them, and leaving only one shown. Turn the dial and match day, week and year.
The casing would have a window that would only show one full date.

I would frame it. It's very ornate and a great conversation piece!

Looks like it was "perpetual" from 1955 to 1993

A STAR GATE! all kidding aside, I love Ester110's idea - beautiful piece.

I have one very much like this. It is a 100 year calendar. It is missing the front
wheel and the back stand. Mine is in storage right now I am in the middle of moving. I will try and get a photo to you, or you could possibly find one on EBAY to compare. Very Creative idea.
