    found this for a dollar but do not know what it is maybe a nutcracker i dont know what the man is does anyone know?

      Yes, I agree it does look like a fairly new cast iron nutcracker. The same design is fairly common with various characters incorporated into the design.

      Hi Songwriter53,
      My vote is with that being a nut cracker. You usually see these in the box stores around Christmas, accompanied by a bag of different nuts with it. They are usually set up on the aisle with the soup mug sets, coffee mug ets, and the barbeque sauce sets. You can tell yours is alot older, but I think it has the same function. That is why that rounded gap is there when it is closed. Sorry for rambling on, still early on the morning coffee buzz !

      I stand corrected, you guys are right. I did not look at the picture closely. The figure with his thumb to his nose is a common one on tobacco cutters. I now noticed the teeth where the nut would go and see there is no blade for cutting.
