The first two pieces constitute a mystery in Czech Tango production for, though attributed to Kralik, they show a new different embossed mark, stamped 5 times around the foot. I tried to remember where I had seen a square mark of any kind before. The last picture provided the answer: a very rare late Loetz mark (it can be seen at loetz.com and my website). To the untrained eye, it is easy to attribute any square mark to Loetz. A crucial difference, though: the Loetz adds "Made in . . .", while the embossed one does not. It has been brought to my attention that other square marks do exist as well. My educated guess--just as with the oval mark, once it appeared in late Loetz items, it was widely copied by
exporters and glasshouses.
