This set is known to be German and was carved in 1800's Erzgebirge Germany. They are highly collectible . This set I found at Auction in a bottom of a box lot . Appx 18 " long .The animals and Noah and Mrs Noah are present also .

   Very nice find Manikin, and cool as well.Prices for these German arks have dropped recently, but still worth about $300.00-$400.00 in todays market. I just saw several sets yesterday in Gurnee, Illinois while on a break from work.

   Thanks step_back I knew they were selling high once . Very few people know what they are and how collectible . I appreciate you making a nice to hear comment . We actually got these in a bottom of a box that was at auction . My husband was going to toss them out !!!!!!!!! I sad hey that is a ark and it looks to cool and saved it . That was many yrs ago he now knows what to look for if he see's a set :-) I always forget your close by when you shop in Gurnee :-)

   Sorry I missed this one, it's really a great set. I guess I need to take a day and view everybody stuff totally, I think vanskyock is doing that now. He might just have a good idea there.

   Thank ya kindly Kerry . These are really nice sets from 1800's . You could mistake and think it was not much so keep eye open for them ! They had sold in 600 price range a few yrs ago .

   Hi Birdie :-) Flat Bottom Arks - A example of a flat bottom ark is shown here. This ark was likely made in the late 19th century, or early in the 20th century, probably in the Erzgebirge region of Germany . The original owners of this toy ark were among a very large group of German settlers who came to settle in South Australia in the mid 1800's to escape religious persecution.
   These are Arks sought after and are very early .
