I like collecting one shape in different colors and decors. I have had the green Loetz Neptun for quite a few years, never quite decided to get rid of it. Then, about a year ago, searching on E-Bay UK, I found the second, also Neptun but in non-iridized crystal (the picture makes it look frosted, but it isn't) with an green handle. The third, also from the UK, is my first Spiraloptisch. The dealer did not specify, but I suspect the presence of uranium, for which I will test when it arrives. All three have large polished pontils.
Correction. The third vase is about a full inch smaller than the other two, which are 6.5". I did test it; it is Vaseline glass, so I have decided to call it Olympia Spiraloptisch.

I wonder if the Loetz designers were going for peacock feathers when constructing Spiraloptisch.
After it arrived, I stared long and hard at it. Being a 60's flower child, i recognized the shapes in the decor: PAISLEY! But it also led me to Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and Klimt's spiral patterns. What do you get when a star moves? Well, a comet. The patten is quite sophisticated and dynamic. here you have a piece of glass whose surface not merely drips (sorry, Phan. lovers) but goes every which way in a controlled pattern!
This Loetz vase/jug/pitcher is also found in 'Rusticana' decor in a ruby ( cranberry) colour with clear handle
I just got it, thanks! And here's a clincher: the "clear" handle on the ruby glows a vivid green under UV!
Love the Spiraloptisch!
