This is a rare manikin set to find by Helen Hungtington Jones . Helen was a fashion designer by trade but did put out 2 sets with these small 11 1/2 inch manikins with her patterns . The Manikin is attributed to Margit Nilsen and may have been purchased for the sewing sets by Helen . These sets were used to teach young girls to sew and create fashions . 1940's WWII era . It is to bad few records exist for Helen Hungtington Jones .

Good for you scandinavian some people just don't understand these were scuplted by very talented artists and served the country as you may see all came in boxes that have have the flag colors on them. I had one that actually said on box "Help in war effort and learn to sew " It was about saving material and learning . Glad others see what they are and appreciate them as important history and beautiful sculpting by famous artists . They served the country well and deserve their place in history .:-)

The profile photo is just a photo , but I did have one like her . I have sold so many over the yrs as I try to decrease my collecting :-)
My mother was a seamstress ,she made all her own clothes as well as for my sister and I growing up we rarely had storebought untill we were about 7 or so . Im going to ask her if shes ever seen any of these or was this only an American thing ??
HiMcgarrett . These were produced during WWII and most of the boxes have American Flag symbols , however they did leave country and came in many sizes this particular one on this page is a rare one to find very few ever made by her . But some of the others I am sure went out of country as gifts ect . Maybe your mom learned to sew with one . That would be fun if she still had it too ! They were made to use less material as it was scare in US during war so stores used them also to display full size patterns in a minature size needing very little material. Many Companies ordered them with their Store name on base . Mostly lingerie Co . McCalls Patterns , Butterick Patterns, Simpilicity Patterns .
