Marhill, was once one of the leading manufactures of mother of pearl gifts and accessories for the glamorous 1950s women; found this mother of pearl compact (unused) at an estate sale for 25 cents. Look at the detail in this artwork.

If you search "Marhill" on eBay they have a pretty good turnover of compacts inlaid with mother of pearl listed, the 1950's was not that long ago. I have a small collection of compacts and cigarette cases. Always scanning the bathrooms and vanities at estate sales for glamorous items. Some manufactures of compacts even made them out of 14k gold before the rise of the dollar stores.
