These 78s were picked up at a garage sale. 1. This example features Judy Garland w/ Chorus singing the Finale from the musical "Broadway Melody 1938" This version was not used in the movie, but is one of two outtakes included on the DVD version. 2. I also have a record of Robert Taylor singing "Yours And Mine" from the same movie. Robert Taylor's version was not used in the movie either. 3. A third disc sports an MGM label and appears to be a vocal test by "Mrs. N. Schenck" presumably Pansy Schenck (nee Wilcox) a former showgirl who married Nicholas Schenck, head of MGM's parent company Loew's Inc. Louis B. Mayer had a great dislike for Schenck and often referred to him as "Skunk". All three records feature the same glorious art deco backstamping shown. The art deco industrial building at 6624 Romaine was recently leveled for development. I would like to know more about these records and American Record Corp. Were these records sent out to different executives for review during the editing process? Someone apparently decided a fifteen year old relative unknown should not be featured in the Finale.
