Super Chubby and Cute Kewpie Figurine Stamped "Beem-Art". Stands 8" tall. I can't find another one like this and I have looked high and low. Under the gold tag in the pic above there is a stamp that reads "Beem-Art". I can't find anything out about this company. I purchased this little guy at an estate sale. I'm trying to establish a value. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

    Thanks!

Hi your dolls label looks like one for a doll maker from their ceramic store and they make dolls from old molds like Kewpie . A newer doll to sell in a local shop and they gave themselves that name . The painting is not correct for an antique doll. So with no info and based on the dolls looks I am going to say newer and value would not be much . Cute to use as a decoration . I will stand corrected if I am wrong but it what it appears to be to me . A Little Local area store that sells dolls they make and maybe other Novelty items . Hope that helps or someone finds the exact maker for you . Thanks for sharing !

Thank you so much for your response. How new do you think it is? 1970's? I never thought of it being from a local store. It's incredibly well made!

also - there is an actual stamp below the label - but it's hard to read. I am assuming that's why they added the gold label.

I see the mark now faintly . Does is say Japan that what it looks like ? If you rub a pencil over mark it will look clear and you can just was off the pencil mark . When I use newer I am referring to 70's-present . If a mold is copied as is this one which was original to Rose O'Neill a artist should always sign it , date or do some mark see it is clear they are copying someone else's work . Yours does not exactly replicate Rosie's so it may have been sculpted by someone using her kewpie idea as it has the blue wings .

Thanks - yes the stamp actually says "Beem-Art" I thought maybe what ever shop sold it put the label there because it is hard to read. Your pencil ide worked beautifully!
