This is a 1860-1870's doll that is referred to as a Parian , They are like a unglazed China doll . Amazing any survived as their heads could break easy. They come with many hair do's and some are very elaborate with molded flowers in hair ect . She is a lovely doll bought at local auction
Maker is unknown as most are unmarked but is German made . She is 15 Inches tall . She has correct original body . This shows one way heads were connected . They used a few different ways . She has white kid lower arms . The painting on face is important to see a Antique doll vs a newer reproduction . The Bisque they used back then was high quality and has a translucent appearance also . She has holes in her ears to wear earrings and is dressed as a woman not child .Her dress is also shown .

What a lovely, serene expression ! and is that a bustle pad tied around her waist ?

Thank you Megarretto . Yes she has a Bustle pad tied on and also has her original dress that I did not have room to post .
She does have such a serene look and it a pleasure to look at her on display . Wish she could tell me her history :-)

I think they only came out on Sundays so they were so speak in the closet I know that much. Dolls were expensive then and not to be handled rough the girls got to play with them generally only on Sundays with supervision . Poor doll was in the dark most of her life :-) LOL

Does anyone know the proper way to secure the "rocker" on heinrich handwerck dolls for shipment? HELP!
  12. Manikin Manikin, 2 years ago
Sadie , You have to take pate off head and stuff inside head . The pate will come off with wig still attached . We normally remove them on inspection of dolls also . The pate is like a cardboard cover for hole in top of her head . The glue is usually dry and should come off easily . :-) If you don't secure rocker arm it can break the eyes loose or cause them not to work any more .

PS Suff inside head lightly not to tight with a cloth or tissue paper . I prefer soft cloth .
