Herman Miller Lounge Chair - Info/Help on restoration
found what looks to be an early edition lounge chair, not in very good condition but looks like it can be easily restored (example leather not torn, wood not chipped) just some tlc and a couple of end stitches. Looking to find out a value on the chair and how I might find some one who restores? Novice please help.

Leave it alone until an expert sees it and gives their opinion.
I'd just enjoy it. You won't get another. Lucky you!
    How did you get it?

I was at a back door kinda tire repair place getting service and one of the garage workers was sleeping on it, I bought it off the owner for $100 bucks I even inferred heavily that it was worth something (I'm too honest) but think there was a translation issue as he never questioned my comment. He also said he had another a month earlier and threw it in the trash bin. UGH! Had I not had an expert living next door to me in Laguna Beach a while back I wouldn't have know it at all to have value.

    A very good pick, then.
    Google "Eames Lounge 670"
    Wikipedia is informative.
    Two good sites for you:
    http://hermanmiller.com/Products/Eames-Lounge-Chair-and-Ottoman

    http://www.ehow.com/how_6798074_date-eames-lounger.html
This second one is a site that gives hints about how to date a 670.

vetraio50 is right --- don't touch it. If you have one of the original mid-century modern lounge chairs, it was made from Brazilian rosewood veneer, Italian leather, and the upholstery was down-filled. Herman Miller stopped using endangered rosewood in 1984 and now uses environmentally friendly materials.

Hi Guys, so I brought the chair up to the house and poked around abit. The leather on the inside is stamped 1962. As the chair originated in 1956 and the seal resembles the description of the original '56-1970 white seal, I'm thinking I have one of the originals with the rosewood. Any additional thoughts?

Are there dealers of Eames 670/671 or similar version/vintage chairs? Looks like they can be refurbished because parts seems to be available at a price and there are folks that can redo the leather......where is the best place to look for one that I can afford?

    thanks
