This looks like an early WW2 era US Navy ships clock. I believe most of the 24 hour clocks are 8 inches across.
I like the 24 hour time going around what most think of as a 12 hour cycle. It can be confusing!
Scott
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THAT IS WORTH? ILL TELL A ALMOST 1500.00-3500.00 , ITS "CHESLSEA CLOCK BOSTON . they made iems for tiffany&co., abercrombie &fitch co. new york way back in the day , this item is very very highly collectable.
THESE ARE WORTH A LOT MONEY. your so lucky. look on ebay you find out.
They uaually bring in the $300- $500 range depending on year of the clock and condition.
Scott
"usually"
now this is a navy one , this going to be different from the others, because it was us goverment or military property.
My price range is for a US Navy clock like the one posted.
Scott
is that ebay price or a auction house price.
They are desirable, but not particularly hard to find.
This type with the 24 hour clock is more desirable than the 12 hour that repeats like a typical clock (dual numbers).
Scott
ive seen some on 1st dibs a while ago and they were 1500-3500.00
Everything has come down in the last few years, but I don't ever recall these being in the range you are quoting.
I just looked up ebay closing sales (I think it goes back about 15 days) and saw several: $190, $350, $525, $425, $500, $245, $425, $530, $480, $510, $500, $335, $522, $275, $255.
That is a fairly good indicator of current market value.
Scott
Scott , eBay is not the only place.and totally respect your suggestion,I should have made myself more clearer . I mean to say auction houses not a marketplace.
I don't understand what your saying.
Most of these sold at auction. With 15 total sales, I'd say the value is well established.
Scott
scott what im trying explain is that there is a higher value at abetter auction house that has more estimate value than ebay is only categorized has a marketplace, its baciscally an online rummage sale. and thats how they represent themselves as a business that all im saying. by the way scott you do have some wonderful things!!! love them. and dont get me wrong ive boughten stuff on ebay as well.
i just think that certian stuff on ebay sometimes is way to DEVALUED!!
and sometimes i think being DEVALUED OF A WONDERFUL ITEM ON EBAY CAN BE VERY INSULTING TO THE SELLER. im not yelling im just pointing out the facts as they are ,nothing is ever consistent with pricing .
tammyt39, if you ever want to sell this item, dont go to ebay, go to hertiage auctions you will be guaranteed a lot better estimate on your item. im just pointing that out you, there is better places than ebay!!!! just do your homework and research!!!!!! before you sell.
i do have an item going to hertiage auctions next year and im still coming out ahead than i would on ebay and your right you must weight your options , and sometimes its better to go somewhere else where you can get better money, you may pay more but you still getting than what you get on ebay!!!
thats whats i saying to begin with and i did say let myself be clear.
what i was trying to say i think it was very hurtful to tammy39 , that her granfathers item was being reduce to a to $255.00 , im sure she didnt want to see that price list from scottvez, like i said you dont insult a family item like that and then defend which it makes it clearly worst. but the fact remains you never which isup and down in market value. i isaid about value to her on here should have stayed there and should have been left alone. but people just dont get it any more.
tammyt39 im sorry , it came to this , and i have to say i still think your clock is very valueable and i still belive in what i say, ive been inn the retail business for 26 years and ive seen a lot of weird things happening in auctions over the years .
and one more thing "CHELSEA CLOCK BOSTON" HAVE BEEN TO BE A VERY HIGHLY COLLECTABLE ITEM BUT A VERY HIGH END LUXURY ITEM NOW A DAYS.OF ANY KIND ,OF MODEL,MAKE,YEAR IT DOESNT MATTER ITS STILL TO BE A HIGHLY LUXURY ITEM. THATS THE POINT............. END OF DISCUSSION.COM LOL!!!
I don't recall tammyt39 ever asking what it was worth.....
My intent in posting realized prices was to correct (what I see as) bad information about value. Just as if someone had stated an incorrect ID on the clock-- I'd think the owner would want to know the facts!
I don't believe anyone else has "insulted a family item".
If valuation is important to tammy-- she now knows what they typically sell for in a World wide auction format (ebay).
Scott
I agree with Scott. BELLIN68, learn to spell.
Scott gave VERY accurate information, including the current average selling price for an exact Chelsea WWII Navy bulkhead 24-hour movement with phenolic case like that shown by tammyt39.
The market for antiques just isn't what it used to be. When valuing any item, apples need to be compared to like apples and condition plays a major role. She also didn't state if it works or has the key.
yes it works and i do have the key
you guys im so over this !!!! that was a few days ago , ive forgotten about the whole thing ive moved on . so the price is the price that is stated on ebay, i accept this . please please move and forget about this whole matter, i m sick of seeing my emails being cover by this whole thing , i like to say im sorry , i hope this helps.
tammyt39 im sorry that i given out the wrong information, i was by auction house prices ,NOT EBAYS PRICING. so im very sorry for the wrong information
i would like to thank you all for the info
