The zoo in Philly had these boxes attached to the fence on certain animals. You could purchase a key that when inserted into the box and turned would give a detailed description of the animal. The key was shaped like an elephant and the trunk would be the part inserted in the box.

OMG we had an orange one, on orange yarn for the Cleveland Zoo. Hung on a hook in the playroom, along with our skate key. An awesome blast from the past, thank you!!!
And I still have a red one from the Bronx Zoo in NY! It would be great to have a collection from every city wouldn't it?!
