What size is it?
Based on the mount it is pre- 1900. Probably 1880s.
If you post a photo of the back, I may be able to date better.

It sounds like a cabinet card-- 6 1/2 X 4 1/4 and the 1880s should be accurate for date.

Collector desirability is driven by content-- beautiful women, cute children, toys, dolls, animals, street scenes, occupationals and military are SOME of the more collected subject matter.
Of course having photographs that came from your family, no matter the content, is nice!

Many Thanks for your advice! The family photos are keepers, its just all the other ephemera... Do people really want travel postcards from the 1930's? I have stacks &stacks&stacks of scenery and buildings. Many of Europe and Asia. With such a massive amount of these postcards my interest has become saturated and I don't need them, but I also don't know what to do w/ them.
Folks collect scenic postcards.
I'd search ebay to get an idea of value and run them in groups in order to move them.
