Love this I am glad someone was holding on that was a one big horse for a kid . He lived a long happy life on farm with his partner . Life in middle America was so much about farming . Now most of old farms are gone to build houses and farms are owned by big companies . Sad
These horses were Hans and Lady and were the work force in the fields .

Well Mannikin I see now , youve been able to tell my real weakness horses ! Lol ! You look so pleased with yourself in this photo and very relaxed too . I can tell your Uncle took pride in his farm the horses look healthy and happy which is not always the case in some old photo,s, and the barn is neat as a pin ! :) lucky you !
I put this one up for you Mcgarrett after you said you loved horses :-) This was my Grandparents farm and I worked it for a long time . I loved to clean the barn which got much bigger as I was older . Many great memories there and lots of hard work but it was good feeling to work like that .
Thankyou Mannikin , we no longer live on a farm or have any horses :( and its true it is hard work but it was always the best feeling in the world to go out to the barn first thing in the morning with the smells and the sounds of the animals waiting ,pure heaven !! :)
Nothing better to wake up to a rooster and and heading to barn and chicken coop for eggs for breakfast :-) Of coarse there is always the dangers on Farm and I had a few one involed a horse and a few falls from 3 stories but kids now will rarely see how the family farm was the backbone of the food they ate and what a good feeling physical work felt . Of coarse we had baby chicks and baby pigs in oven in kitchen to keep them warm :-) Loved it
The babies were in there to stay warm so they could live I didn't make that clear . If Their moms deserted them or could not feed them .
Good thing you clarified about the piggies and chicks lol ! Its kinda funny really the circle of life start out in the oven and end in the oven .:) I have to tell you one winter it was really cold and the throat wattles on our chickens would freeze after they drank water so I used the Barbi knitted dress maker to make little tubes that fit over the chickens heads and kept there little necks warm and dry !!! It really worked and they looked so cute .
Oh that is to funny LOL Love it . I am laughing so hard I can't type . Bless you for your caring about their poor little wattles or wobblers as I call them . Ok next up life on farm and the chicken when he grew up and the smelly job of plucking them . I am now a vegetarian all the way :-)
I think I was a poster kid for the farm . This appears to be taken about same time as one with truck or they were testing me to see if I could survive ? :-)
PhilDavid just enhanced this photo for me and I love what he did so much better . Thank you Phil !!! what a difference . Now I have to click love too :-) I moved his to first photo now .
Beautiful to see and read about how much you loved the horses and cared for them. Most beautiful photo and entry. Thank you.
Thank you MiKKo. I brought this back up because Phildavid did such a beautiful job bringing it back to life . A Treasure I can keep now . The horses I am on are working in field with my Uncle on another post :-)
Thank you wolcott :-)
