Recently came across a small box filled with watches. Part of a group of items given to me by a neighbor. Recently, I poked through the box and came across several items interesting to me. Watches are not my expertise so I'll appreciate any comments about these charming items.
This pocket watch has what felt like a plastic-like crystal which popped off as I was photographing it. It reads "Urban Jurgensens EFTF" on the face. Along the top back on either side of the crown is engraved" Erik Tuxen 5.4.1943".
Since I originally posted this watch photo I've done some Googling and found that Urban Jurgensen is a Danish firm founded in the early 19th century and known for their "timekeepers for seafarers and astronomers."
Also I discovered there was a famous Danish jazz band leader named Erik Tuxen who, " ...from 1936 until his death by cancer on 28 August 1957 he was conductor at the Danish National Symphony Orchestra of Danish Radio..."
