The jar is about 4-1/4" tall. The flat black and flat gold paint looks old and worn so a lot of the glossy glass shows through. The ferrous metal screw-on lid is thin like an old snuff jar. There is a glass area between the dog's front legs that is mostly clear and there is USA embossed near the bottom of this glass area. I'm not sure of the kind of dog, it may be a Pug.

I would really like to know what this is ,when this was made and who made it. Thank you very much.

    This a glass candy container. Could be a french bulldog. 1920's -30's. Could be Jeanette glass co.

    My grandmother had one of these that I now have was always told that it was a snuff jar or candy jar it would be pre-WWII for sure I don't beleave they came painted Hers was brown and had been painted. would like to know how rare they are and value

    My guess is a Boston Terrier candy container.
