Here's an early 2 1/2"x5 1/4" case tag I snagged on a "buy it now" for $8 total. The surprisingly intricate print graphics on this little tag include the classic Logo "Trade Mark Registered" in tail of C, as well as a detailed image of the Hobbleskirt Bottle with patent date Nov. 16, 1915, which was the first standardized Coca-Cola bottle. I really do enjoy these little cardstock items almost as much as the large collectible signs (almost!). They are fun to look at with a magnifying glass. And one can't beat the $8 price tag for this wee gem. I have not seen these come up often on eBay. Petretti's 12th pg 487 lists this Bogalusa, LA example valued at $6, so they must be fairly common. I nice little value, in my opinion. Hope everybody's having a nice weekend.

These turned up in large quantity from the Bogalusa plant in the late 70's. While they are very common, they are still interresting. They were primarily used on the metal 24 and 48 bottle cases that would be put on a train to ship to someone at the far end of the bottlers territory. They date from the time just as things were transitioning from horse drawn wagons to the early hard tired trucks. At that time a bottler would only want a territory approximately 30 miles from his city's center, because that was how far a person could travel out and back in one days time.

Very cool find Dave! You were much luckier than me today. I didn't find a flippin thing out there. I love your style man! Thanks also to earlycoke for the great history to back this tag up!

Thanks Perry. I thought of your vintage bottle plant memento when I received this today, very similar type piece in that in can be displayed and handled. I'm putting these paper cardstock items in custom, poor-man plastic sleeves and sticking them in the thin gap behind the frame of our wet bar. My goal is to eventually ring the entire bar with early, inexpensive items visitors can pick up and enjoy. I appreciate the kind words Sir. You'll hit on something good soon enough, of that I'm certain.

I also thought of you Bernie when I received this one. $8! (MY Boss informed me budget cuts are forthcoming for my "department" and I best stick to this type of thing going forward!:)

Sounds like a fine plan! ;) Seriously, some day we need to do it. You just know it would be a blast.

Hey all, check out earlycoke's post, asking about what Coke item you would buy if you had unlimited funds. I agree with earlycoke, it would be fun to see what everyone would buy if they were rich!
