While visiting an estate sale some years ago I found these 2, mint condition Diatonic FR.HOTZ harps. While not a major blower, I have always enjoyed
learning this instrument for the blues. Yes, I put my lips on these, they're too appealing not to. Kooties?? The sound is vintage wood and metal.
The ATTA BOY "D" is from the 30s and the Canadian Ace "G" is a very low in key and from the 40s. These were made in Germany and later in Ireland. The oldest harp maker. I have played the ATTA BOY on mic before and had many offers but didn't sell it and won't. These are harmonicas you will have a hard time finding on ebay!

Wow they are nice! great find, I still have my Dad's Super Chromonica, its a little rough but still plays, someday Ill learn to play it, (yeh right)
Thanks officialfuel, Tommy, EJW and Thrifty! A Chromonica looks like it would be hard to master EJW. It scares the crap out of me! LOL, that's why I stick with the 10 hole harps. If I had to remember when to push a valve in, on top of when to suck and blow I would be in a mess a trouble.
Thanks rocker-sd!
I always wanted to learn how to play the harmonica...love the sound.Unfortunately on a good day I have the musical ability of a warthog !
Very cool !!
LOL, well at first Hedge, it's a little like a baby squawkin or a sick chicken but you have to stick with it and have a great teacher if you want to learn how to bend those notes. Thanks!
Thank you Manikin!
My father had one - I remember it well from that label on the underside of the lid. Love that Canadian Ace one, your collection looks mint !!~
