This is great! The knit hat is super cool, Hollywood Hipsters would fork over a lotta $$$ for that!
Oh, but she is so sweet with her pail, what a wonderful image. Your family photos have such great scenery, what a fun journey thru time, Thank-you so much for sharing this!

Awesome photo of your granny Manikin ! I lived on a farm with my grandparents for 7 years here in North Carolina, and that photo brings back lots of memories ! The kitchen even looks familiar. We raised corn and tobacco. Summer time was not "vacation" for kids back then like it is now. They were the hardest working people I ever knew, even to this day ! They taught me everything I needed to know about work ethics ! That outfit and toboggan was usually the dress of the day, except on Sundays. Thanks for sharing !!! Thrifty Gypsy

Thank you Thrifty ! We never grew tobacco here to cold but lots of corn in fields . Yes farmers were the back bone to the country for many many yrs , and while it was hard work there was still time for fun :-) We didn't have a tobaggan but we made do with a piece of flat metal or anything we could find .
Thanks for sharing your memories of Farm life too :-)

What a priceless memory, this brings back memories of my life when young and our old farm kitchen. This must mean the world to you, and bring back so much to think of now and how lives have changed so much since then.

Phil there is nothing I miss more than being in her kitchen . The kids today will never know much about farming and that is sad . They think it is a company where animals go through tunnels and eggs are self picked , cows are self milked . For all I know they even feed themselves now . Not like the hard working farmer that got very little sleep but a lot of satisfaction at days end . Thanks for seeing the story behind the photo Phil ! :-)

My Gran worked a farm in Indianna her whole life. I remember freaking out that the milk was warm, as she had just milked the cow. She was wonderful. Great pic Manikin. Brings back great memories. Thank u.

She was my special angel hedge ! You would have loved her !! I wish she was here and I would bring her along but she would make us work LOL

She'd probably make me clean and oil the springs huh...that's OK work hasn't hurt me yet.
  17. Manikin Manikin, 3 years ago
Yep she would hedge right after you feed the pigs , cut down a field of corn and go out to chicken coop to fetch supper ! :-) I was nearly killed on a real horse there and the rusty springs on our old ponies scare me less . !
