Originally introduced as form 7617 in 1898, in 1900 resurrected as form 39 in popular decors, Glatt and Papillon in Creta and Candia. Acquired via trade from a good friend and fellow glasshound, it is one of the largest Loetz pieces in my collection. When I opened it, I joked that it must be the six pound Honeybaked ham I ordered arrived two days early - but this is even better, and the golden color is just as appetizing!

Beautiful piece! You mentioned it is one of the largest Loetz pieces in your collection! I am curious as to how tall it is?

It's about 8.5" tall, but it's almost as wide - 22" circumference. I have a couple of other Loetz pieces that are about 11" tall - but the biggest I've ever seen in person was an Orpheus vase that was about 21" tall. The majority of my Loetz pieces are between 5 and 10 inches tall. I just don't come across the really big ones very often.

The ham arrived yesterday, and it's not as big as this vase! :)

I have one exactly like it Warren, and mine has the crossed arrows mark. I have seen 3 in this shape with that mark. Too bad yours doesn't have it also.
