I did some checking on this one and apparently it was made in 1897. Check out the second pic for Patents. The Patents all were made in the late 1800s! George C. Blickensderfer designed these. In 1891 he made the first portable machines that you could actually change the type style at will. This unique design formed the basis of a typewriter machine business that lasted some thirty years.
This typewriter seems to still work and has the original wood veneer case.
I would love to know the value on this Blickensderfer prototype no. 7.
