This sign is in near mint condition and while not embossed, has the cool aqua color and red fishtail design with bottle on it. This screams of my childhood, that's why I bought it. 20" x 28" which makes it perfect for the wall and though not dated, I know it's an MCA made piece. Stamped in the lower right corner. how in the world do you find one in this nice condition!?
Yes, I've seen this sign... and I'm jealous as all hell !!!!!! :0)
if you dont mind me asking how much did this sign cost??
You are the master of the mint signs Perry! Thats a beaut! Are you cookin these up in your basement???Great find!
WWRT?
LOL, I'm not cookin them up in my basement Bernie but I wish there was a way I could do that! I found this one on ebay, I asked the buyer to take less and they were willing to do that. Learned that from Dave! Trevor, I payed a little more than book value but the book's old. The sign is pretty minty so I don't feel too bad to have one form my own era. Thanks Dave, Bernie, EJW, Trevor and officialfuel for the love!
To answer your question EJW, you look and LOOK and LOOK! I'm even goin to the Flea here this weekend cause I'm commited. Dave, don't be jealous, you told me to see if they would take less and they did. ;)
sorry signaholic didnt mean to be rude when i was asking how much you paid its just i found a very similar sign and its also priced above book price ( petrettis 11ed atleast) so i was just trying to see what people are willing to pay for these signs. i posted a picture of the one im interested in maybe you have seen this one and wouldnt mind telling me what it sold for just so i know if im paying too much ( i didnt grow up in the 1960's so i gotta watch how much i pay lol) anyways love your sign thanks for showing it
Ok Trevor, I'll go check it out now.
I swear, you have the blessing of the SIGN GOD. I haven't tried the "make an offer gig" yet , but apparently it yields wonderful results. That's a beauty!!!!
I make offers all the time on ebay, even if it dosnt say"make offer" I shoot them an offer under "ask question" and they often get back to me, this also opens the door to other items there selling. I got outbid on a sign I really wanted so I sent them a message that if the deal falls through contact me right away, the message came back "we have 3 more of those signs"!! it pays to ask.
Hear, hear, EJW. I avoid bid auctions as much as possible. High risk of over paying, low chance of "winning". 90% of my eBay purchases are "buy it now" or negotiated price before a first bid. Many sellers are open to offers, whether they advertise it or not, because maybe they need the money sooner rather than later, or they aren't sure what kind of price they'll get on bids (it can be a crap shoot). When I do find something worthwhile of my participation in bid auction, I place a single bid only during the last minute, no driving up price in a bidding war. If everybody did it this way, we'd all buy at fairer prices. Nothing irks me more than to see 20 bids on the first day of a 7 day auction. Come on!!! :)
thats kind of funny i actully stop using ebay because i got sick of being out bid right in the last min. i would set my max bid during the first couple days of auction it would hold up the whole time then when theres only a min left someone usually out bids me. its kind of a p o when your the highest bidder for 7 days and then someone decides to out bid you in the last few seconds.
I have to agree with Dave and EJW, it pays to ask, you never know what you might save. I usually go in the last 10 seconds on the auction otherwise.
Thanks Tommy!!
Trevor, There is absolutely not a one good reason from a buying perspective to place a bid in an eBay auction before the last minute. All it does is result in one paying more out of pocket or help the seller get a better price from a competitive bidder. Pick your number and place it with 5 seconds left. It's quick, it's over, you either win or lose, then pay or move on.
Dang it Dave, don't give all the secrets away,,,,lol
5 sec's ?!! no wonder I keep loseing! I've been bidding with 6 sec's left! LOL seriously, I know what I want to pay for something so I bid that in the last sec's like you said Daddy, you win some but lose most unless you want to overpay.
That's it EJW!
Thank you kerry!
Yeah, 5 sec might be cutting it a little close. If the internet connection happens to be slow, might miss the bid altogether, that's happened. I don't know what the hell I'm doing most of the time actually. As I said, I stick to mostly buy it now listings. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!!!!! ;)
LOL, my wife hits it at 4 seconds but she's really good at it. Had a lot of practice. ;)
I agree with EJW.... I think you have about 5 or six signs that I patiently watched and waited seven days to get a chance at owning a true beauty, LOL
Oh man, sorry Tommy, I didn't think you guys would want any of this junk anyhow. ;)
I tell ya what..... you just hang on to them til I get down there to collect, LOL
ARGHHHHH!
Thanks kerry, sanhardin and ay!
I have that same sign in the fish house at my cabin for 30 years and always wondered how old it was and how much i could get for it. Mine is in real good shape also but with a few nail holes.
Round $300 if it's in near mint condition bobber.
Thanks, next time i get up to the cabin i will take a picture and post it along with my water cooled coke machine
Great! Can't wait to see it
Thanks Van!
