The book on the left is titled " Sally Scott of the Waves" and follows her life in the U. S. Navy. Copyright date is 1943. This book was part of a series called Fighters For Freedom. Other books in the series were " Barry Blake of the Flying Fortress." "Nancy Dale, Army Nurse" "Norma Kent of the WACS" " "Kitty Carter, Canteen Girl" "March Anson and Scoot Bailey of the US Navy" and "Dick Donnelly of the Paratroops." Author is Roy J. Snell who wrote fiction books for boys and girls.
The second book is titled " By your Leave, Sir." 1943. The main character in this book is Becky McLeod and follows her life as a Wave during WWII. The author is Lieutenant ( JG ) Helen Hull Jacobs, U. S. N. R. Jacobs wrote four other books all on the subject of tennis.
