This is comic book sized single page ad from 1968 for the original 16 "Sweet 16" Hot Wheels. The front of the ad features a Spectraflame Blue Silhouette with detail showing the engine, "red stripe slicks" (redline wheels), low friction wheel bearings, torsion bar suspension, pipes, and other details. The reverse side is an ad for how to make yourself "Astronaut Tough".

Now I'm going to have to dig out my matchboxes, lol. Cool ad thanks for sharing
Thanks Kerry! Maybe I'll try to make myself "astronaut tough" lol!
I watched the movie "The Right Stuff" and what they put those guys thru, I'll remain a hometown sissy, lol
Hah! No kidding! I think I will stick to the Hot Wheels and other collections... much safer...
Wow that is too cool !!! I remember most of those, had a few.I cringe to think of what we used to do to our Hot Wheels.
Thanks for the love Manikin!
I know, right Hedge!? That's why so few of the originals survived! I think I'll frame this and hang it up next to my Redline display!
Thank you AzTom!!
Has anybody seen one of these still in the comic book (or magazine)? I'd love to see one if anybody has one! Thanks all!

i have not seen one but will be on the lookout aycockonion
Thanks Vanskyock24!
I know there was a Hot Wheels comic for a while in the '70s, but it wasn't too successful. So, most of these ads were in other comics from '68 onward. A 2-page or centerfold ad would be a pretty awesome find! Keep your eyes peeled, guys, and keep me in mind if you come across one!!
I haven't either, but will keep an eye out for another. BTW I do have the 1969 Matchbox collector's catalog, usa edition that shows all their product for that year.
Wow, Kerry that's a great item! Do you have it posted here? If you had all the '69 Matchbox vehicles, that would be an awesome centerpiece for a display.
No haven't posted yet, I only got about 20 of the 69's and couple of the first series will try posting them later. Had he double decker posted, but some how it was deleted, lol
Deleted?? Wierd.. CW folks must've not liked the pic quality or something. Prefer the '60s era Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars?
I'd have to go with the matchbox, don't know why, just do lol
It would be hard for me to decide... I have a lot more Hot Wheels (thousands that aren't posted on here..) but I like the "real" look of the Matchbox cars. I guess I like them equally, as long as they look good! LOL
