When I was little I loved playing with My Granny's Dollhouse. She was born in 1921, so it was at least 60 years old when I started playing with it. Everything in it was made really sturdy and I don't remember it as being delicate. She never seemed to worry that I would break anything.
In the 1980's she had a "new" house built and it had everything... Electricity, wallpaper, and decorations for every holiday. Little hands were not allowed to touch anything in the "new" house. That was Ok with me because I still liked the old house better. It was kept in a closet in the "attic room" and I remember having to make a path to it by crawling around and under piles of "junk" to get to it. After I crawled through the maze I would turn on the floor lamp next to it so I could see. I always felt like I was in a cave on the moon, it was such a remote place.
Now I have the New House, and in the last picture, that's what happens when you let the neighbor children play w/ dollhouses- I knew I was in trouble when I could hear , Crunch, crunch, under their feet...

Oh I love the German bisque doll house dolls !!!! How wonderful to remember such a fun time and a secret place to find solace and enjoy your Grandma's dollhouse :-) When I was little me and my Girlfriend would play in a closet and sew clothes for our dolls and make cardboard furniture . It felt so safe and cozy in the little closet and you found that same enjoyment in the space in Attic . What a wonderful story Beaux . I would cherish all of your dollhouse !!Love ! and your dolls have a nice value too !

Thank-You Manikin! When I was 11 or 12 my granny gave me a brand new doll house for Christmas, and tho it was nice, it was the last thing I wanted. I remember deep down inside I was sooo disappointed. It was HUGE, and didn't have all the little doo-dads that make a dollhouse fun. A doll house isn't the kind of toy to just put in your pocket and play with in the car when you leave. It just sat in a basement & I finally gave it away . The little girl was so happy, and I thought... After all these years, its finally making someone happy!

Thank-You, Thank-You,Thank-You!!! I went back over today and sifted thru postcards and other things. No dolls, but other things (records, radio, postcards, children's books, photos, Travel everything!) that I might have just tossed out before, but thanx to this site and all the kind people (and the articles) who take time to explain the "history, why & what's". I'm looking at it all with a new appreciation. Thank-You For sharing all your knowledge! I am so grateful.
