    There are no 2 mecates made exactly the same. Check out mecates.com to see more awesome examples of this intricate craft. And good ones are made with mane hair, never tail hair. Some have multiple patterns in them made by changing the order of the twisted strands. And some have many shades of hair, arranged in a determined color order. The makers are incredible craftspeople. We also collect handmade intricate silver bits. And we admire fine firearms, especially engraved ones.

      Gramps Sam worked in the oil field and on the weekend would go to shaver lake to the gold mine at the age of 32 back in 1933 the dynamite blew and he went blind ..so he became blind man Sam the rope man ..all handmade ropes and things bits he had customers all around the world works of art ...said dad how did he know color ..way in those days by the taste each color had its on flavor
