The USS Snook, SSN 592 was launched in 1960 and commissioned about a year later.
The submarine conducted many deployments to the Pacific including a 1972 deployment in support of US forces in Viet Nam.
Snook was decommissioned in 1986.
The lighter is in unused condition and came in the original box. It most likely dates from the early years of the Snook.
These military lighters are great cross collectible items.

Nice item.
Thanks for looking aycockonxion.
Nice item! I have collected glass cups and plates from submarines I've been stationed on. Are you a submariner?
No-- I like to see the sky every day! I don't know that I could have made it in a sub.
I was a US Army Infantryman.

Scottvev...Thank you for your service!
Regg243...good comment, sometimes while underway, we would just sit and look around at all the "stuff" surrounding us, and just be amazed!!! So much technology crammed into a very small area, most of which was very deadly!! Especially the sea pressure trying to "get to you" every single second of the day.
beachbomb-- thanks for your service as well.
I am glad there are folks out there willing to serve in a sub-- not for me!
