I thought this was the neatest thing in the world. I was shocked when I learned that it was from 1920! They sure had style back then.
The only real problem with the piece is that it has been painted black over the beautiful brass. Also has "Made in Italy" under the wings. :]

Wow. My Mom has same fly...I never would have guessed 1920's. Really cool. Hers is black also. I'll have to check under the wings. She loves it and wouldn't part with it for anything.
Yea, I just started googling Brass fly ashtray and boom, popped right up. There are a few that look similar, so watch out. The difference I noticed was the detail on the wings the most noticeably. Made me wonder about other strange ashtrays.

You have some nice pieces. Love that crab though. Is there line of these ashtrays? Like other animals?
I picked one of theses up at a yardsale today for 2 bucks!
I have the crab too that i found in a box of junk.
