Just got this at an auction. I just love the color and the size. It's just under 3 feet tall so it's a nice size for inside the house. Pretty heavy though.
I can't find any Howe scales like it online anywhere. Does anyone have more info on it? Age or what it was used for?
Seems like the valuable Howe scales are older grocery/counter top ones.

Although your photo doesn't show it, whatever measurement is on the scale face should give you an idea of the purpose. Looks like maybe a butcher's scale - if the measurements are pounds and ounces. Possibly early 20th century? Fun - I love old scales and use a 1949 postage scale. Thanks for sharing it - DD@Phila
Thanks. I was thinking along the lines of butcher scale too. Unfortunately, I broke the glass in the globe when I was loading it into my car :(
I might have it replaced.. or may not.
