Is anyone familiar with this lovely couple? At first I thought that they were Popeye and Olive Oyle, but she always wore a red dress. In the box that I found them was also a small silver bucket with "cabbage" painted on it. I am thinking that the bucket may have belonged to the wife, and that was his dinner, stinky cabbage to match his cigar...Is my train of thought logical? I need to go back and get that bucket. I should have just taken the whole box...Popeye ate spinach and had tattoo on his arm. Who are these people?
Do they have names? Does anyone know how old they are? I wonder if they have any children?

Yes, I will admit that is true, they are cute! I guess that is why I rescued them from the old box :)

It could be Jiggs and Maggie from the old comic strip "Bringing Up Father"...

stefdesign has hit it right on the head. I include a link to a boxed version of these wonderful dolls. The pail was an accessory for Jiggs and Maggie came with her rolling pin. Thanks for sharing.

This set should be highlighted by CW it is rare , it is a Shoenhut set and to find in this condition is amazing . It has a high value for Shoenhut collectors well over 300 and up . So the powers that be I hope you see this set and show that CW has some very rare dolls on it . Would love to see on FB newsfeed .

Check it out! I got the pail & rolling pin!
    What the WHAT!!!! ? ! ?
Not only are they priced that high, people seem to actually want to buy them!
I've been carrying them around in my purse, I went out for bite to eat and sat her on table w/ rolling pin, made for good laugh after glass of red wine...Now I toast to little dolls. They were in a box full of just as angry looking clowns. Please don't tell me I have to go back for them too...
How am I to sleep tonight, I'm giddy w/ glee. That's crazy.

Thank-You stefdesign, I am amazed! But what am I going to do w/ them? I sort of feel bad...They deserve a better home! I'm afraid to even touch them now. But I feel guilty if I sell them for money... Ratts. This is a unforeseen dilemma.

Beaux you should be so happy that your dancing in the streets LOL
Wonderful surprises and oh yes by the way Schoenhut also made clowns so we need to see them too :-) I am delighted for you . Selling is always a option but should you decide to be sure and sell with a reserve . Whoever would buy them would display and cherish them . I am just in awe of what Grandma left you ! and happy for you too !
